Chinas Increase in Censorship

I found an article from The New York Times that gave me inspiration on my topic for my final project. The Article: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/22/world/asia/22china.html?_r=1&scp=4&sq=Freedom%20of%20Information%20in%20China&st=cse

Talks about the increase in government restrictions on what is and isn’t allowed to be looked at on the internet. The article talks about Virtual Private Network services which are designed to invade the governments restrictions. They recently have been discovered by the government and are diminishing in the China’s culture. What I found interesting about this topic is that most of the words and searches blocked are completely unnecessary. For example the word “freedom” was blocked by the government through google.
